But being a part of an incredible group of artist also helps A LOT with the fun factor – there is no shortage of creative energy! A couple days ago, I mentioned the Arts Collective that I’m a part of [Alto Nido Arts Collective]. We’ve been working our tails off on a few different creative projects in the last couple weekes and a lot of it has come to a head today. One is the music from the hip hop group 6BROOKS. The TV show Bar Karma has picked up quite a few of our Collective’s songs, including 6Brooks’ “Current Events” for their closing credits music. The show premiered on CurrentTV last Friday and 6Brooks’ song was left uncredited as a mystery song. After the show we posted a video riddle with clues to what the name of the band was [See Here]. It’s super tricky and I’m actually surprised that anyone cracked it, but two brilliant and determined people got it within an hour of the deadline, landing them super awesome Bar Karma Swag! Today we all got up super early and not only shot a short film, but also released 6Brooks’ freshman album and launched all the promotional material. I photographed and designed all of the promo stuff and am still working on the full album artwork package for the hard copies including lyrics (important with hip hop!). There’s so much cool stuff happening and more to come!

I photographed Matt Von Roderick’s new stage show SEIZE THE NIGHT at the Key Club Hollywood, directed by Kristin Hanggi. It was a stellar performance and Matt and his band put on quite a show. I’ve never seen anyone play trumpet like him, its like jazz meets intense indie rock. Not only was the music rad, but they had a slew of beautiful dancers and lights, making it a visual explosion in my brain… so fun to photograph! Check out His music at www.mattvonroderick.com

I’ve been working a lot with a team of incredible artists down here in LA to create short film projects and music videos. This is the first music video that I shot and it holds a special place in my heart, mainly because I love this song and this band so much. I think you might fall in love with it too, so check it out. The band is Socks & Chimes, a duo ukulele group out of LA, it was directed my Noah Gilbert, who is a CalArts grad, and shot by yours truly.
