I just had to share with you readers my excitement of finding buttons in my mailbox today! I’ve never ordered buttons for a client before, never really needed to with portraits and weddings. But this weekend I shot the soccer team photos for the Santiam Christian High School guys soccer team. I was surprised how much I enjoyed photographing a sports team! All the guys were really fun and had tons of energy before their team breakfast and game, and it went really smoothly.

So.. sports teams must have buttons right? Duh! I ordered the buttons right away so eager parents could have them for as many soccer games as possible, and they just arrived today! They are so fun, it makes me want to a.) wear one even though I’m clearly not a soccer parent, and b.) figure out other ways to incorporate button orders…. haha, wedding buttons anyone?? :)

I have been doing some image work for Afton Field Farm’s upcoming website and they asked me to also document a day long seminar by Joel Salatin. Salatin is the proprietor of Polyface Farms, a popular author, and leader in the sustainable farming movement. I had such a wonderful time and learned so much from Salatin as he used Afton Field as an example for starting up a sustainable farm. I’m very excited to work more with the farm, I really love what they are doing and hope to support them in any way I can.

If you are interested in what they are doing at Afton Field, or sustainable farming in general, you can find them and their grass fed, pasture raised meat (as well as honey as eggs) at the Saturday farmers market in Corvallis.

We don’t really care for bunnies and eggs but we do usually throw a huge party on easter to celebrate the most exciting and pivotal day in the Christian faith — the day Jesus rose from the dead.This year however we looked more closely at what the day means and what it looks like to celebrate by really living it out. So we set out to love and bless the city and people around us. Our church community mobilized about 200-300 people to meet some of the needs of the highschool that graciously allows us to meet in its auditorium. The school district put together a long lists of things that it needed done but didnt have the time nor funding to do, and we celebrated Jesus’ resurrection by having a giant work party to get those things done!
