Lauren Hurt Photography | BLOG – West Coast Wedding, Portrait, and Actor Headshot photographer based in Los Angeles California, serving Southern California to Oregon, and beyond bio picture

Welcome to the BLOG!

Here you'll find updates on my current work, clients, ideas and musings. Hop over to the PORTFOLIO SITE for more information and work.

My goal as a photographer is to highlight your unique personal style while capturing images that evoke emotion. I have a fine art photojournalism style and aim to put you at ease while having fun at the same time. To me, life is a grand story unfolding and I get to tell my part of it through images.

I specialize in senior potraits, actor and buisness headshots, bridal, and engagement photos. I shoot weddings all over Oregon and California including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Fransisco, Portland, Salem, Eugene, Canon Beach, and Hood river, to name a few. I travel regularly for bookings up and down the west coast and am available for destination weddings.

I would love to meet with you and take part in
the telling of your story.

MOO with me…

…those of you who grew up loving theatre may immediately get that reference, but no, this post is not about RENT, its about MOO.COM and how much I love them! If you are a photographer or creative professional you should check them out at Moo.com. They have magical print technology that allows you to press print a bunch of business cards, or post cards, all with different images on them. This allows me to send all my wonderful couples holiday cards with their beautiful mugs on them. They are lovely mugs aren’t they? :)

I just had to send out cards this year because I am SOOOOOO thankful for the amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. I had an amazing time making beautiful pictures for all of these wonderful people. If you are one of those, reading this, then I have to say again thank you. You are the best. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas/Hanukkah/any other holiday you may celebrate and wish an equally awesome start to the new year. I wholeheartedly believe its going to be an amazing year. I Can’t Wait.

Happy Holidays!

Since I haven’t blogged for a second I thought I’d throw a little shout out to my beautiful people who have been keeping me busy AND give you all a sneak peak of what’s to come! Since my last post, I took a week off of shooting to recharge after the slammin wedding season and before my last wedding on 2011 (definitely ended on a high note!!). Then I photographed the beautiful miss Sophie and the little bean inside her belly (as shown below) and then almost immediately got in a car and drove to Arizona for a week to photograph Emma and Ely’s stunning wedding at the Tubac Golf Resort in Tubac Arizona. It was magical! Now I’m settling back into Los Angeles and prepping for the holiday’s which hold lots on movies, coconut milk eggnog (new obsession) and dinners with friends. Hope yours are splendid as well!

Emma + Ely’s Desert Engagements | Tucson, Arizona

eeeee, I’m so excited to share this post with you guys! Emma and Ely flew me out to Tucson, Arizona a few weeks ago to photograph their engagement portraits. I haven’t been able to get them up on the blog because, as some of you know, I quickly left for tour with my husband after finishing their edits. It’s has been a wild and wonderful month for Casey and me… started by a shoot in New York, then Arizona, and then heading out on tour together up the west coast. I intentionally didn’t take any work with me on tour… except for when I caved and booked a headshot session in Oregon (but it was so fun)… but no blogging! Which is why you all get to see these pictures now after a couple weeks of waiting.

Emma and Ely are so fantastic and we have become good friends. Emma just glows with beauty, she’s patient and thoughtful and has an amazing laugh, and Ely fits her so well. He is so giving, considerate and a keen observer. We also got to bring in Emma’s horse Pie, and their ridge back Stella who is one of my favorite doggies in the world! It was so fun running around the desert of Tucson with these guys, I can’t thank them enough for having me out for it.

Emma and Ely’s wedding is next week (yup quick engagement) so keep a look out for more desert glory around in a few weeks!

Jessie+Mike’s Rustic Pioneer Town California Wedding PART 2

Heck yes, it’s Part 2 time! If you missed PART 1 go here —> Jessie+Mike’s Rustic Pioneer Town California Wedding PART 1. The ceremony and reception were out in the tiny desert town of Pioneer Town California, out towards Joshua Tree. The Reception was held in the outdoor corral of Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneer Town Palace, which is an amazing desert saloon and music venue.

Jessie was an avid DIY bride and did everything herself with lots of help from family and friends, making the wedding a beautiful reflection of their unique personalities. Jessie’s sister is a botanist and planted all of the succulents in clay pots as favors. Her friend screen printed the design from their invitations onto little wood tags to put in the plants. The flower arrangements in mason jars were made that morning by Jessie’s mom, sisters, and close friends from wholesale flowers from the downtown Los Angeles flower district. And the whole corral was littered with autumn squash, apple crates, and hay bails to pull the fall barn yard theme together.

Mike is an incredible musician and his band, The Brian Buckley Band, along with many of their close friends bands all performed during dinner and cake cutting. It was so much fun to see Jessie and Mike at their sweetheart table as all of their closest friends serenaded them with their favorite cover song and original song dedicated to the couple. My other favorite detail was that they opted to twist the convention of champagne toasts and poured a ton of tequila shots to toast to! Such a great touch. Very quickly after, Mike hopped up on stage and killed it on the guitar as the Brian Buckley Band got everyone dancing. And the crowd went wild :) I have to thank Brielle McClaine of Brielle McClaine Photography in Pasadena who took the torch after the formal dances and killed it with dance party pictures, allowing me to dance it out at one of my closest friend’s weddings. Basically the whole day was amazing, and I’m so happy for Mike and Jess, and am already celebrating the life long love that they will share. I love you guys!
