Kattie + Josh

I shot with Kattie and Josh when I was last up in Oregon (you may remember me posting on them here and here). We walked all around the OSU campus trying to find shelters to dodge the rain. It poured for the first part of our session so we played in parking garages and elevators, and shot unconventional portraits. It was so fun, they rock my socks, and what’s even better is I get to photograph their wedding in September! Yay!

We met up for coffee before our shoot to talk about locations and stuff, but we ended up mostly talking about loooooove (possibly my favorite subject…). I was tickled (yes I just said tickled) to find out that these two are highschool sweethearts. They’ve been together for quite a while now (Jim just finished his Masters, and Cristy’s finishing her PhD) and decided it was about time to plan the official celebration. Except these two are laid back lovebirds, they just took the first step by taking their engagement pictures I love it. We took kind of a walking tour around Corvallis since they love the outdoors and were both stuck in offices all day. We had tons of fun and lots of laughter, and they weather was puuuurfect. What more could we ask for?

Ashley and Chris are another of our amazing 2010 wedding couples! They are so sweet, and so very very much in love. I had a great time with them, just watching them laugh and hug, they’re so comfortable together. This session was a great reminder of why I love what I do so much! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding late this summer, out at Deep Woods Events in Elmira Oregon, near Eugene. This is a newer venue at there so all you Eugene brides make sure to check it out if you are looking for a venue! Its going to be perfect for this wonderful couple

Shayna + Ryan [Oregon Engagement Photography]

Shayna and Ryan were such a cool, laid back couple to shoot with. They were totally up for exploring some locations I had been scouting out for a while. If you are wondering about how I choose my photography locations, I always keep my eyes out for what looks photographically interesting to me as well as has good lighting, accessibility, etc. When I meet with you to plan your shoot I always ask what kind of “feel” or “mood” you are going for because we’ll want to guide the location, outfit, and prop decisions by that theme. Since you guys are always so fun and creative, more often then not you’ve been doing some scoping out too and have some ideas on where to start, but if not, I’m all there to make some suggestions. This old house was something I had my eye on for a while, and when Shayna said she wanted something classic and rustic I knew it was time to head out there for their engagement photographs. Locations (as well as props and outfits) can bring so much into the final photographs. I would encourage you, if you are thinking about scheduling some portrait or or engagement photographs, think about getting creative with your location! Do you know anyone who has a ranch, an old barn, or an orchard? Have fun with it and it makes your final photographs totally and uniquely yours!

Mallery + Brenden [Corvallis Oregon Engagement Photography]

Mallery and Brenden came all the way down from McMinnville Oregon for their Engagement photos. They both are in school there at Linfield College which I have visited a few times, it is so beautiful. We all met out at Adair Village for the shoot which lent some great backdrops for the style we were going for. We had such a great time running around the country, crawling through tall grass, and sliding down big piles of rock! Hope you enjoy!
