I shot with Kattie and Josh when I was last up in Oregon (you may remember me posting on them here and here). We walked all around the OSU campus trying to find shelters to dodge the rain. It poured for the first part of our session so we played in parking garages and elevators, and shot unconventional portraits. It was so fun, they rock my socks, and what’s even better is I get to photograph their wedding in September! Yay!

So this is going to be a photo-packed post because this wedding is very close to my heart. Charlotte and her family lived next door to me all growing up and I was so excited that they gave me the honor of shooting this very special night. The wedding was beautiful. It was held at the OSU Alumni Center in Corvallis Oregon and even though the forecast said rain all day, the weather cleared perfectly for the afternoon and evening festivities. That also allowed us to shoot around the gorgeous Oregon State University campus. Some of my favorite details of the night – the special moments between Charlotte and her father, Charlotte’s awesome shoes and Disney Princess Collection dress, and Celebration Floral’s bright colored floral arrangements. A wedding at The Vue and… a prince

So this might be somewhat of a monster post because it was my last wedding of my busy summer season up in Oregon! Now I’m all settled back in to my Los Angeles home… sunny winters full of Actor headshot photography and more portraiture (hopefully some on the beach coming up). This is my first fall/winter in Los Angeles (last year I moved here towards the end of the “winter”) and so far I’m loving the warm temperatures and cool breezes. Although I have to admit, when we came back from the beautiful (real) fall weather in Ashland Oregon last month, I thought I had time warped back to the summer and my body freaked out on me a bit! But I’m starting to really understand why photographers love it down here. When I was based out of Oregon full time, once the summer/fall was over I basically had to put my camera on the shelf for a seemingly endless stretch of months, just waiting out the rain. Then there would be one unexpected break in rain and all the photographers scramble to call anyone who’ve they’ve owed a shoot to! Stressful to say the least. But in Southern California its always beautiful!!! The weather forecast for this weekend in Los Angeles says rain for 3 days.. I’ve learned that actually means “a light drizzle in the morning and then beautiful light diffusing clouds covering the entire sky for the rest of the day” so even the bad weather days are a photographers dream. Love it.

Anyway, LA life has been treating us well. We have amazing friends and fun opportunities popping up all the time. today, Case and I found out that two of our close friends are engaged, we’re so excited for them! And yesterday I had the opportunity to meet and photograph Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, the prince of Venice as he was visiting the States working on a music side project. He was an absolute gem, a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor. Beyond that, I’m also editing like crazy, finishing up albums for some clients and planning our first massive Thanksgiving feast at our apartment next week. And Casey’s working on a Christmas album (yay yay yay!)

But now I’m so excited to share with you Vanessa and Travis’ ROCKIN wedding. I shot their engagement portraits in June and had been anticipating their crazy party since. They met as dancers in college so I knew I could expect a killer dance floor (by far my favorite part of a wedding). The event was held at the old Strega restraunt turned event space, The Vue Corvallis. And the amazing ladies at Celebration Florals did the flowers. I also kicked up the number of pics cause it was my last Oregon wedding of 2010! I hope you all enjoy ☺

Still loving Beazell Memorial Forest [Oregon Wedding Photography]

I think it’s so fun to photograph the same venue multiple times because you really get to see how different couples interpret and make it fit to their personality. Josh and Julia’s wedding was my second time out to Beazell Memorial Forest this summer, and I love seeing how they made that gorgeous location their own. I love that they had their ceremony out on the grass with the forest as their background. And of course the barn makes an awesome backdrop for any reception. And Josh and Julia are just the sweetest couple and I can’t express in words how happy I am for the two of them. So here’s to the many beautiful years ahead, thanks for letting me be a part of this day you two!

Ever Heard of the Inn at Diamond Woods? [Monroe Oregon Wedding Photography]

I hadn’t… not before Lisa and Steve’s BEAUTIFUL wedding there. It was also my first time working with the really fantastic wedding coordinator, Linda Amedo of It’s Your Day. Can I just say, coordinators make weddings so much smoother? I love them. Lisa and Steve’s day was fantastic, a true celebration with laid back charm. They are so fun loving and relaxed… I knew it was going to be a great day when I showed up and the whole Groom party rolled in from a morning of Water skiing at Fern Ridge. Then when 9 piece live dance band arrived it really solidified it (check them out, The Essentials). Oh and I also have to say, Lisa chose lilies as her primary flower and Viesia from Green Gables delivered THE MOST FRAGRANT lilies I had ever encountered. The minute she opened up the van full of them to create (by hand on the spot) the beautiful arbor, it was a rush of perfume through the whole yard, incredible. Everything about the wedding made for an awesome night, however it was rivaled by waking up the next morning and photographing the water-skiing after party! I love my job!
