Amber + Evan’s Edgefield Engagement Session

I’m so excited because I actually get photograph this beautiful couple’s wedding this weekend in Salem Oregon. Casey and I drove up to Corvallis Oregon from Los Angeles yesterday. We are chilling around town preparing for this weekend – I’m here to hoot two weddings this weekend, in record Oregon heat… I have to laugh because all summer as I traveled back and forth between California and Oregon for weddings I complained to family and friends that I was freezing in Oregon’s 70 degree average (that is a guess) 2011 summer weather. Now the weather fairy is back lashing at me… “Oh yeah Lauren? We’ll I’ll just wait till your busiest weekend and SHOW YOU. That’s what you get for complaining.” Lesson learned. Anyway, aside from stocking up on a professional looking pairs of black shorts, prayers that it stays below 100, and hopes that the ceremonies will be in shade, I’m really excited for this weekend. Mainly because these two couples are awesome, and I can’t wait to share their beautiful days with you. Amber and Evan’s wedding is on Sunday and they have hired Casey to sing them down the isle as well as their first dance song, a song called July from his first E.P. (such a beautiful song). So I’m equally excited to see him share in this day as well. I was going back through the blog to share an image from their engagement session that we shot when I was on tour with Casey this spring, and I realized that in all the craziness of tour, their session didn’t make it up on the blog yet. Casey was doing a residency at McMenamin’s Edgefield Manor outside of Portland, so we were staying there for a few days. Amber and Evan drove up from Corvallis to take advantage of the beautiful grounds for their session, and catch on of Casey’s nightly shows. We had a blast exploring all the fun nooks and unique backgrounds that McMenamins specializes in. We laughed, played, and stepped in a lot of mud. But the best part was that we stumbled upon and patch of daffodils which happen to be Amber’s absolute favorite flower and very meaningful to her. I couldn’t have planned that better if I’d tried!

Portland Love – Jordan & Ryan’s Engagements

I have a lot of Portland love… like I LOVE it. Especially because I mainly get up there in the summers, when Portland is at it’s prime, and I have the coolest BF’s there that I get to crash with whenever I’m up (shout out to the Potts fam! <3). Therefore it was so fun when Jordan contacted me about doing her and Ryan's engagements up there. I knew Jordan as a friend of a friend of a friend from many moons ago and it was way cool to reconnect with her. Ryan, as it turns out, I also knew from a friend of a friend... so fun, and such a small world! It was so fun photographing them. I just love Jordan's laugh and that she crinkles her nose up when she does it, and Ryan has one of the most genuine and joyful smiles... they are beautiful together. They wanted something near water but not very busy, which, for Portland on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, is a small miracle to ask for. BUT we discovered St. Johns bridge, which is a little off the beaten path, and struck gold. Enjoy!

Kattie + Josh

I shot with Kattie and Josh when I was last up in Oregon (you may remember me posting on them here and here). We walked all around the OSU campus trying to find shelters to dodge the rain. It poured for the first part of our session so we played in parking garages and elevators, and shot unconventional portraits. It was so fun, they rock my socks, and what’s even better is I get to photograph their wedding in September! Yay!

Casey and I are back home in LA, safe and sound after a wonderful 3 week tour of the pacific northwest, filled with lots of music and LOTS of picture taking. If you weren’t up to date (it was a total whirlwind so I didn’t blog as much as I wanted) Casey did a tour with the McMenamins hotel chain where he played in a few of their venues in Oregon and Washington and we got to stay there (yay!!). I knew when we got back to LA I would have to pretty much hit the ground running as I was already packed with shoots and projects, so this last week and a half has been a bit insane but I’m so stoked to share all the beautiful faces I had the pleasure of stealing with my camera. First up are a few of Charlotte and Darren’s engagements on the Oregon State University campus and tomorrow you’ll get to see their wedding. Since they live in Austin TX (hence the country reference above) and I live in Los Angeles CA we didn’t have much of a chance to meet up for engagements before the wedding. So we opted for a very close pre-wedding meet up so they could still have wonderful, professional portraits of themselves outside of their wedding attire. We shot these on the OSU campus hours before they both skedaddled away for their bachelor/bachelorette parties in different cities. It was super fun and we got to explore and scout places we might shoot the wedding party at the wedding. Stay tuned for their wedding shots to follow….

A Little Story For You…

So we’re on day two out of five on my hub’s pacific NW mini tour. We arrived at McMenamin’s Edgefield this afternoon and I have to say it might be one of my favorite places in the world. It’s like disneyland for beer and wine (or alcohol in general) lovers. Walking around the farm we toured about a ga-jillion super quaint and awesome bars and restaurants all featuring the spirits they create here. I also spent a good amount of time wandering the halls and reading all about the history of the place, it’s amazing, and a little eerie at times but in an awe-inspiring way. I can’t believe that in all my years of living in Oregon I have never stayed here! I was so excited when we walked into our room the the first thing I did was kick off my boots and jump on our gorgeous king size bed. I realize that I wont be this spoiled on future tours that I go on with him, but right now I’m pretty much in heaven.
If you’ve never been to Edgefield in Troutdale OR that I highly recommend putting it on your bucket list, especially in the summer when all the outdoor hotspots open back up and the summer concert series starts.
