say yes to forest weddings, you just might find a gnome

I got so excited when I saw Marissa Matsler’s name in my inbox last January. We hadn’t seen each other in almost 10 years but how could I forget my fellow high school drama club member. Hehe, yes I was a proud drama club member, if you didn’t know! She was inquiring about her wedding out in the forest, on a lake between Ashland Oregon and Klamath Falls Oregon. How could I say no? Unfortunately I did not find a gnome, even though I wish I could share a great gnome story on here… Anyway, It worked out perfectly and I got to drive out for the weekend to the BEAUTIFUL Lake of the Woods resort area. Not only was it great to see an old friend, but they also threw a wickedly awesome party. The ceremony was in the brush overlooking the lake and mountains, the reception was in a open wooded area by the water. They had 3 live bands, an Alsip Photo Booth, cupcakes, an ice cream bar, and plenty of Oregon’s finest micro brews. To top it off, the night concluded with a massive bonfire. I trust that with easy going spirit and humor of KC and Marissa, their life together will be a continual celebration! Cheers to you two

I Heart Oregon Weddings

I mean REALLY, I really heart them. Especially the last two… I just got back this weekend from another marathon trip up to the great green state, and shot these two beautiful weddings. Josh and Julia started off the week at one of my favorite spots, Beazell Memorial Forest in Kings Valley Oregon. Kayla and Brian finished it up with a positively gorgeous Cannon Beach Oregon celebration. In between was lots of traveling and driving… it made the trip go by very fast and before I knew it, I’m back in the swing of things down here in LA again.

I just wanted to give you guys a little taste of what’s to come AND give a major shout out to all of my amazing clients. I can’t explain how blessed I’ve been this year by the incredible brides, seniors, and families I get to work with. As more and more inquiries for next summer’s weddings come in, I find myself looking back at all my beautiful brides and being so thankful! I’m starting to think that the term “Bridezilla” is a sham (knock on wood) because all of these women have been total Queens to work with. Thank you all for giving me the immense honor of being a part of your day! I love you all!

Cristy + Jim [Oregon Engagement Photography]

We met up for coffee before our shoot to talk about locations and stuff, but we ended up mostly talking about loooooove (possibly my favorite subject…). I was tickled (yes I just said tickled) to find out that these two are highschool sweethearts. They’ve been together for quite a while now (Jim just finished his Masters, and Cristy’s finishing her PhD) and decided it was about time to plan the official celebration. Except these two are laid back lovebirds, they just took the first step by taking their engagement pictures I love it. We took kind of a walking tour around Corvallis since they love the outdoors and were both stuck in offices all day. We had tons of fun and lots of laughter, and they weather was puuuurfect. What more could we ask for?

Every once in a while, not very often mind you, I get to actually go to a wedding as a guest. It is SUCH a treat for me. I love weddings sooo much, mainly because I love to celebrate love. A couple of weeks ago while I was up in Oregon (shooting weddings), I got the treat of celebrating our friends (Jesse and Jenessa) tie the knot. Casey flew in from LA a couple days before, I picked him up at the airport, he played a show with Jesse in Portland (2 days before his wedding, amazing) and we headed down to the party. And party it was! It was such an awesome night of dancing and laughing and toasting to a beautiful life together. I was really blown away at how Jesse and Jenessa perfectly personalized the evening. From the whimsical flowers and hand build structures, to the live band stage where they’re friends band’s took turns playing all night long. It was truly a magical evening…. I want to go back

Anyway, I just wanted to share some of the awesome details they put together to make the evening theirs…. cause did I mention I just loooved them? enjoy!

Soo, by the time this posts (yes, I thought ahead yesterday and scheduled it!) I will be driving hard north on I5 with 2 crazy guys, on our way up to Oregon. We’ll probably be listening to a book on tape or some good ole’ classic rock and pretty close to crossing over the Oregon border. So when this pops up, feel free to do a little dance for us to root us on.. Hip Hip Hooray! Go Road Trips!

Arwen + Peter [Beazell Memorial Forest Wedding Photography]

I had such a wonderful time with Arwen and Peter and their amazing family and friends. The wedding was a beautiful celebration of life and love, and their heartwarming story together. They are some of the kindest, most laid back, and fun loving people I’ve worked with and it was such a joy to capture their *1st* special day together. I say first because their legal matrimony is being held in Australia, where Peter is from and where they will be starting their lives together. This stateside celebration was all about the coming together of family and friends to send them out. In fact, Arwen and Peter even chose to have their guests marry them during the ceremony! Everyone had copies of the vows and read them over the couple as a group. Many happy and sad tears were shed and much laughter and dancing followed. The evening was beautiful in every way. I’m so excited for both of them and the adventure ahead of them, but Corvallis is definitely going to miss such a wonderful woman!
