Evan + Amber’s Deep Woods Estate Wedding | Salem Oregon

Man, there is so much I could say about Amber and Evan’s wedding that would make it seem like some jokester was testing their resilience or trying to throw a wrench in their perfect day. For instance how their photographer broke her foot the night before (ugh!), or how a bad 24 hour flu had swept through the grooms whole family, or the weather that was in the high 90′s, or having an ambulance show up during portraits (long story, but all ended well!). But I have to say – these two were on a different level. Nothing could short change the absolute joy and beauty that came pouring out of their spirits on this day. They had been waiting for this for years – high school sweethearts, with the biggest and sweetest hearts I know. Their love for each other and excitement to be joined together in marriage was so unyielding, no obstacle or unfortunate event could take their eyes off one another. Their ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Deep Wood Estate in Salem Oregon and went off with lots of joyful help from family and friends, lots of laughter, high fives, and secret handshakes. When Amber walked down the isle it was like the world stopped, she was glowing, and I’ve never seen a father of the bride so excited to hand over his daughter to a man that he obviously loves and trusts without a doubt. It was beautiful! The rest of the day was full of fun personal touches (like incorporating their love of rubber duckies on the head table!) and a LOT of dancing, my favorite!

Kattie + Josh

I shot with Kattie and Josh when I was last up in Oregon (you may remember me posting on them here and here). We walked all around the OSU campus trying to find shelters to dodge the rain. It poured for the first part of our session so we played in parking garages and elevators, and shot unconventional portraits. It was so fun, they rock my socks, and what’s even better is I get to photograph their wedding in September! Yay!

Casey and I are back home in LA, safe and sound after a wonderful 3 week tour of the pacific northwest, filled with lots of music and LOTS of picture taking. If you weren’t up to date (it was a total whirlwind so I didn’t blog as much as I wanted) Casey did a tour with the McMenamins hotel chain where he played in a few of their venues in Oregon and Washington and we got to stay there (yay!!). I knew when we got back to LA I would have to pretty much hit the ground running as I was already packed with shoots and projects, so this last week and a half has been a bit insane but I’m so stoked to share all the beautiful faces I had the pleasure of stealing with my camera. First up are a few of Charlotte and Darren’s engagements on the Oregon State University campus and tomorrow you’ll get to see their wedding. Since they live in Austin TX (hence the country reference above) and I live in Los Angeles CA we didn’t have much of a chance to meet up for engagements before the wedding. So we opted for a very close pre-wedding meet up so they could still have wonderful, professional portraits of themselves outside of their wedding attire. We shot these on the OSU campus hours before they both skedaddled away for their bachelor/bachelorette parties in different cities. It was super fun and we got to explore and scout places we might shoot the wedding party at the wedding. Stay tuned for their wedding shots to follow….

Still loving Beazell Memorial Forest [Oregon Wedding Photography]

I think it’s so fun to photograph the same venue multiple times because you really get to see how different couples interpret and make it fit to their personality. Josh and Julia’s wedding was my second time out to Beazell Memorial Forest this summer, and I love seeing how they made that gorgeous location their own. I love that they had their ceremony out on the grass with the forest as their background. And of course the barn makes an awesome backdrop for any reception. And Josh and Julia are just the sweetest couple and I can’t express in words how happy I am for the two of them. So here’s to the many beautiful years ahead, thanks for letting me be a part of this day you two!

Cristy + Jim [Oregon Engagement Photography]

We met up for coffee before our shoot to talk about locations and stuff, but we ended up mostly talking about loooooove (possibly my favorite subject…). I was tickled (yes I just said tickled) to find out that these two are highschool sweethearts. They’ve been together for quite a while now (Jim just finished his Masters, and Cristy’s finishing her PhD) and decided it was about time to plan the official celebration. Except these two are laid back lovebirds, they just took the first step by taking their engagement pictures I love it. We took kind of a walking tour around Corvallis since they love the outdoors and were both stuck in offices all day. We had tons of fun and lots of laughter, and they weather was puuuurfect. What more could we ask for?
