WOW, I really need to catch you guys up on some things. I admit I’ve been majorly slacking on blogging, but I promise its not because I’ve been slacking on work! In fact, these last few months have been some of the craziest I’ve seen. But that’s no excuse to leave you all hanging, I know 
As some of you know, I’ve been in quite a transition state lately. We have picked up and relocated to sunny (well not right now, we’re in the middle of a storm) Los Angeles California for my husband’s work. He is a musician and will be working on a few different projects down here for a while. But don’t worry, I’m not leaving you faithful Oregonians! I’m going to be shooting actor headshots here for the next couple months and then head back up in May to spend the summer with all my AMAZING wedding couples and high school senior clients. Fun right?! I think so… Honestly, I think I get the sweet end of the deal – California winters and Oregon summers, Love it.
Thanks to some absolutely beautiful families and engaged couples, I worked my little tail off up until THE DAY BEFORE we drove off in the U-haul! My husband told me I was crazy, but I just love you guys too much to say no to a shoot (in this case, a gorgeous baby belly, coming soon to a blog near you). But alas, with shooting and working and packing and cleaning (etc.), blogging fell through the cracks. So I’m gonna take the next couple weeks and get all caught up on here, be looking for it (I’ll be adding them chronologically, so they’ll be below).
And today I’m so excited to introduce to you Jessica and Jake, one of my 2010 wedding couples. We shot these 3 days before I left Corvallis so they are hot off the presses. These guys are so fun and brought tons of personality to the shoot. I love when couples bring fun outfits and props, it brings in so much more of their character AND makes it a lot easier to be in front of the camera. They brought a handful of different outfits, hats, glasses, shoes, and my favorite… Jessica’s feather boa, YES! Anyway, here are a few snippets of the fun that ensued..

Shayna and Ryan were such a cool, laid back couple to shoot with. They were totally up for exploring some locations I had been scouting out for a while. If you are wondering about how I choose my photography locations, I always keep my eyes out for what looks photographically interesting to me as well as has good lighting, accessibility, etc. When I meet with you to plan your shoot I always ask what kind of “feel” or “mood” you are going for because we’ll want to guide the location, outfit, and prop decisions by that theme. Since you guys are always so fun and creative, more often then not you’ve been doing some scoping out too and have some ideas on where to start, but if not, I’m all there to make some suggestions. This old house was something I had my eye on for a while, and when Shayna said she wanted something classic and rustic I knew it was time to head out there for their engagement photographs. Locations (as well as props and outfits) can bring so much into the final photographs. I would encourage you, if you are thinking about scheduling some portrait or or engagement photographs, think about getting creative with your location! Do you know anyone who has a ranch, an old barn, or an orchard? Have fun with it and it makes your final photographs totally and uniquely yours!
